Yoga Class Descriptions
This class is designed to focus on the breath as gentle postures are introduced into the practice. We emphasize staying present in what we’re doing. This is a Level I class so it is suitable for all levels. There are variations to each asana (pose) in order to bring challenge or relaxation. All classes are non-competitive yoga is a practice of self-awareness and self-care.
You will leave this class feeling as if you’re floating on a cloud. The purpose is to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props. The use of props makes it easier for you to maintain balance while you are stimulating and relaxing your body. Light postures.
This class is appropriate for all level students. Beginner, intermediate and advanced students are welcome to express themselves as they are. We welcome self-exploration and offer opportunities throughout the practice to go into deeper poses or remain in more basic poses.
This is slow-paced practice, with great attention to detail and use of props. As in all of our classes correct body alignment is primary which allows the body to develop harmoniously and prevents injury. We offer detailed instruction during the different stages of the poses, we assist in helping our students move awareness to the many parts of the body while simultaneously alerting the mind. Our intention is to teach beginner students how to progress safely by listening to their bodies as they become more in tune with themselves as they develop mental balance and physical strength.
Meditation & Movement
There are different forms of meditation and some classes will include chanting. This class is more of a grounding experience gentle stretching and poses are meant to soften, strengthen, and open muscles and joints. Emphasis is on breath focus that can improve respiration, digestion, circulation, supports immune function, and reduces stress. Each class ends with a guided relaxation and meditation to help maintain a sense of calmness that we encourage students to move with them throughout their day. No prior meditation experience is required.
Some say that Kundalini yoga is the mother of yoga. It combines powerful breathwork, chanting, meditation, chakra balancing and energetic yoga postures. This practice addresses the spine as well as the nervous system, glandular system and the mind. It is a practice that enhances emotional balance and clarity of the mind. This powerful practice will leave you feeling, balanced, clear headed and energized.
Vinyasa means “linking movement with breath” Classes are structured to influence the body and the mind. No previous experience is necessary. Vinyasa classes can be more challenging although modifications are always. Every class is designed to enhance each student’s self-esteem, while encouraging a light-hearted, playful, and joyful exploration within the yoga practice.
Is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures or asanas that are held for longer periods of time. This class is a restorative practice bringing relaxation and all around sense of well being. This practice stretches both the connective tissues between the muscles, and the fascia throughout the body. The goal is to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility as the poses stretch and exercise the bone and joint areas. It can also help regulate the body’s flow of energy.
In this Basic Yoga class, students develop body awareness, posture alignment and core strength in basic poses, while experienced students are encouraged to explore advanced variations in familiar postures.
